Santa’s Village Skypark Review

Late in 2016, after a lengthy period of being closed, Santas Village Skypark returned to the public. We had a great time on their inaugural weekend. Since then, we’ve visited the park several times, and each visit further deepens our affection for it.

My then-9-year-old daughter and 10-year-old son had a blast there with me on my first visit. We arrived at 10:00 a.m., well before opening, and remained until 8:00 p.m. (6:00pm). Park hours vary throughout the year.

History

I reside in Oceanside, roughly two hours from the park. Disneyland is around an hour and 20 minutes away. This gem debuted 6 weeks before Disneyland in 1955. After a strong run, financial issues forced its closure in 1998. The 2003 Old Fire almost devastated the property after a bark beetle infestation.

The park reopened on December 2, 2016, over 20 years later. 18 log buildings from the old park have been reconstructed. Use Santas Village Coupon and avail discounts.

Overview

The new park has guest-powered attractions. Santas Village Skypark has pedal-cars, not tracks like Disneyland’s Autopia. Ice skate, rock climb, create a craft, decorate cookies, dig for gold, zip line, cycle through the San Bernardino Mountains, archery range, shop, dine, and more. All park activities except the train are powered by guests. This park emphasizes exploring San Bernardino National Forest.

Basic Info For Winter Visits

Since living here, we’ve skied both resorts and most others. Add a day to your ski vacation for this park. Snow Valley is 7 miles away and the nearest ski resort.

On Thanksgiving and Christmas, the park is closed. However, you may pack a picnic and eat it in your vehicle. Parking is outside the park. Entering the park requires a waiver. Online or in-person.

Like Disneyland, it debuted in May 1955 after a year of construction. It took 30 months to rebuild the park decades later. Santas Village Skypark, with facilities in Sky forest, CA, Dundee, IL, and Scotts Valley, CA, was the first franchised amusement park in the U.S.

Arrival Time And First Order Of Business

It’s a good idea to fill out the necessary waivers for entering the park either before you depart or on the way there. You’ll be relieved to get this finished, since connectivity in the highlands is sometimes unreliable.

As soon as the park opens, which is around 20 minutes after you get there, you should go immediately to these two spots:

  • Plan ahead if you want to go zip lining.
  • Register for a meeting with the man in red.
  • They are both very well-liked activities.

Once you’ve confirmed your zip lining and Santas Village Skypark visits, you’re free to wander the park at your leisure. You may want to take a break for lunch about 11:30, since by noon, all the good eating spots will be taken.

What Your Ticket Includes

Don’t forget to schedule some time for shopping and eating in addition to seeing the sights. Also, remember to carry your credit card that you use just in case of an emergency At this point, I haven’t left the park without spending at least $100 on adorable souvenirs and clothing.

With its recent opening, the park’s Bike Park has quickly become a fan favorite. Locals who want to ride the trails on their own bikes must bring them with them. Bicycles may be rented right here on the premises.

Serious mountain bikers go from all around Southern California to ride these routes. The pathways are well-marked so that you won’t waste time on uninteresting detours. Consider the run configuration at a ski area.

Some Notes:

Your ticket covers everything for these experiences. Rock climbing shoes, ice skates, etc. Only buy food, drinks, and souvenirs. Spend extra on optional activities. Breakfast with Santa, Mrs. Claus’ Tea Party, Workshop crafts, etc. You may visit and have fun without paying more than your ticket in Santas Village Skypark

Disney enthusiasts should consider the Making Spirits Bright Tree Lighting Parade a tree lighting. Santa and characters will light the tree at 4:30pm daily on Candy Cane Lane. This isn’t Disneyland’s parade. I recommend seeing it as an extravagant tree lighting. Precious.

Dining And Shopping

SkyPark offers a limited number of eating alternatives.

  • Nick’s Patio and Grille: Burgers, sandwiches, salads. $5 bread bowl soup!
  • Pedal Pub: Craft beer and bar grub. Most folks spend the evening here.
  • The Lunch Box serves hot and cold sandwiches, ice cream, malts, shakes, sundaes, and floats.
  • Gingerbread House: Sweets and cocoa. Every visit, we receive a gingerbread man, sticky bun, and Ginger doodle cookie. All three. Trust me.
  • Kringle’s Coffee and Gifts – Hot cocoa! Kids and chocolate are my obsession. When my kids aren’t chilly, I go to this business.
  • BBQ-like park gatherings. This is a bargain. The environment is lovely.
  • Nick’s is fantastic for lunch. The chips and grilled cheese are amazing. Try the bread bowl soup for about half the price of Disneyland. Our upcoming visit to The Lunch Box excites me. My favorite Gingerbread House. Every place was gorgeous.

Shopping:

The shops are adorable. Santas Village Skypark is the most extensive choice. It contains toys, décor, and clothing. Beautiful things abound. Pillows, kitchenware, decorations, etc. I could have splurged.

The Great Humbug Adventure

In 2020, Scrooge’s house will be fully remodeled. All-new settings, four-player vehicles, and a refined scoring and shooting mechanism distinguish The Great Humbug Adventure from its predecessors. In order to capture the Humbugs, the complete family must work together in Santas Village Skypark

Come on board, and we’ll show you around the residence of that miser Scrooge. Humbugs are out there, so be wary! Use your smartphone to make them giggle, and enjoy seeing their faces light up with joy. This is a dark ride, complete with strobes and black lights, and it will send you on a roller coaster. The whole family will love this dish!

Polar Paradise

The water park in Santas Village Skypark is included in the general entrance fee. Ideal for those scorching summer days! The water park is more than just the Polar Paradise. In this fun and engaging water play area, children and their families may splash down into a pool that is just two feet deep.
